“My Favorite Things”: Organic Beverages

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

I’m sure everyone is familiar with the above lyrics. The ever classics, “My Favorite Things” from The Sound of Music. Well, today I would like to share a few of my favorite things.

I always try to stay hydrated with plenty of water mainly because I hear it’s good for you. I mean it does make sense since our body is about 70% water. (A random fact: Some say that room temperature water is better than cold water due to some scientific reason regarding blood vessels and absorption…) But sometimes, water can get a little boring since there’s not much taste to it. (Although…when I was hiking the Yosemite Mountain for six hours, water could not have tasted more delicious!) So I usually drink something sweet with my lunch or dinner. Like food, I try to find organic or natural beverages and there are lots of choices. But there are two certain brands that I am absolutely addicted to—Santa Cruz Organic and Steaz Iced Teaz..!

Santa Cruz Organic (SCO) mostly carries beverages but it also has fruit sauces, spreads, and peanut butter. SCO is great because it’s not only committed to producing organic products but also uses green methods to make these great tasting drinks. In fact, it has received the WRAP Award (Waste Reduction Awards Program) for the past ten years!

Santa Cruz Organic Juices – My perennial favorite are apple, cranberry nectar, lemonade, orange mango. Because they are a bit sweet to my tongue, I mix it with a bit of water and it becomes the most refreshing fruit juice ever.

Santa Cruz Organic Juice Drink Boxes – So delicious! These come in four flavors: grape, lemon, orange, and tropical. My favorites are grape and orange.

Santa Cruz Organic Sparkling Beverage – Great substitute for Coke or Sprite. It has 8 different kinds and my go-to flavor is the zesty Lemon Lime. Try your burger with this sparkly beverage.

Another favorite is Steaz Iced Teaz. The teas (depending on which kind you drink) are made from organically frown tea leafs from Sri Lanka, Kenya, and Northern Fujian province of China. The teas also bear the certified fair trade label which indicates that the company uses fair labor conditions, imposes fair prices, and implements fair trade practices. Much like SCO, Steaz Iced Teaz is not only yummy but it also does some good to the society. It has six flavors but I love Green Tea with Peach and Black Tea with Lemon. They are not too sweet so you don’t feel like you’re drinking sugar. Unfortunately, I can’t get them in Seoul..! Absolute tragedy…
